Exciting news theatre fans. George Oswell's 1984 is coming to the West End. Now I loved the book. The movie? Not so much. However I am dying to see this production. I guess I'll have to head on over to London huh? Previews for the show are set to begin at the Playhouse Theatre on June 14. Now for those of you that are not familiar with the show, I have put together a little synopsis to help you learn more.
Winston Smith is a low ranking member of London's ruling Party, which prohibits not only free thought and sex, but basically any expression of individuality. This of course does not sit well with the leader of the Party, AKA Big Brother, who orders that Winton be followed day and night via a specially designed telescreen.
Understandably this also does not sit well with Winton, who proceeds to write his thought's in an illegal diary. One day he receives a note from a dark haired girl that simply says, "I love you." They soon begin a secret affair all the while trying to avoid the watchful eye of the Party. Soon there after he is summoned to meet with O'Brien, who is rumored to be a high ranking member of the Party. O'Brien encourages him to confront his greatest fear. He soon discovers that the thing he fears the most is not what he thought at all.
Intrigued yet? I know I would be if I were you. Great. So how do you get tickets? Well, I guess you could wait until you get over to London and hope they are available. Or you could give one of our friendly ticket experts a call and we will do the rest. It's as simple as that. Get your tickets to see 1984 at the Playhouse Theatre in London. You will love it. Until next time theatre fans.
