2010 Tony Award Nominees and My picks...

Let me start by saying that I almost never agree with the TONY Award nominators and often disagree with the TONY Award voters on their picks for shows. Having seen almost every single show to open on Broadway this season...below I have picked my choices (**indicates my choice) of the 2010 Tony Award Nominees.

I have to say that there are definitely people and shows that are grossly missing as nominees.

It is a crime to not see Sergio Trujillo as a nominee for his choreography for Memphis. Although MEMPHIS is an entertaining show it was definitely the choreography that made the show spark.

Despite, critics not liking it...I thought The Addams Family was one of the most entertaining shows to open this season. And though critics raved this was a performance of a lifetime for Nathan Lane...he somehow managed to not be nominated.

Although I liked A View From The Bridge, Fences and Lend Me A Tenor..other than acting, I found them to be ho-hum productions of great plays.

However, 3 of the most interesting and fascinating plays I saw this year are RED, The Vibrator Play and ENRON. Just wrong to not see Marin Mazzie and Norbert Leo Butz's wonderful performances not nominated for ENRON.

Although I thought FELA and COME FLY AWAY were exciting for the first 20 minutes…after that the lack of book and repetition of both shows left me feeling robbed of my time.

On the other hand American Idiot, which is lacking in the book area was still fascinating visually and musically. So where were the nominations for Best Director and Best Orchestrations?

Just goes to show…everyone has an opinion…But still makes me wonder…whether its politics of the business or who is padding the pockets to come up with so many misguided nominations in the name of art.

So here they are:
