This Season's Biggest Hit Is The Addams Family

Lat week I wrote a blog about how despite some tepid reviews Promises, Promises has become one of Broadway's most popular shows. In fact since it began previews at the end of March it has continually been in the top ten of all shows with figures hitting the one million mark for the past few weeks.Back in early March I had the chance to see The Addams Family and loved it. I was not the only one. In fact I have yet to speak one person who has seen the show that didn't. That is except for the critics. They didn't like it. Not only did they not care for it but neither did this years Tony committee as it was shut out in all the major categories.

I guess the jokes on them because since the show began it has continued to gross over a million dollars a week. Take that critics. In fact except for The Lion King and Wicked it is Broadway's third highest grossing show. Now while a few Tony nods might have helped a little down the road I expect The Addams Family to continue selling very well for a long time to come. My only concern is how the show will do once Nathan Lane and Bebe Neuwirth leave the show. That my friends is a mystery. My guess is that the show will be fine. After all it's the show that is the real star. Isn't that the way it is supposed to be? We shall see. Until then I suggest you see the show if you get the chance. You will have the time of your life. I know I did.
