David Mamet's Race Reaches Milestone

Well it looks like David Mamet has scored another hit. His newest work Race which premiered on Broadway at the Barrymore Theatre on December 6, 2000 will play it's 200th performance on May 29. The show which recouped it's entire investment last month is scheduled to play thru August 21. Currently starring in the production are James Spader,Richard Thomas,Kerry Washington, and David Alan Grier who was nominated for his wok in the play. It was also recently announced that on June 13 both Grier and Washington will exit the show with Spader following suit on June 20. Replacing them are Dennis Haysbert,Afton C. Williamson and Eddie Izzard. As of now Thomas is scheduled to remain with the show until the end of it's run. Now while I did not see the show most of the tickets that I sold were because people wanted to see James Spader live and in person. I say it will be lucky to make it until August but I've been wrong before. We will soon find out. Until next time theatre fans.
