Let me start off by saying that I never expected to love Jersey Boys as much as I did. In fact I waited until almost two years into it's run before I finally broke down and went to see it. Now don't get me wrong. I love the music. It's just that the show had so much hype I was convinced that it would never be able to live up to my expectations. Well I am man enough to admit when I am wrong and boy was I wrong this time. I loved the show. Going into the show all I knew were some of the songs and that was about it. While the musical numbers were fantastic it was their story that really moved me.
Being a composer myself I really identified with this four guys from New Jersey struggling to achieve their dreams although thankfully my road has not been as tragic as it was for those guys. Now for those of you who think you need to be a fan of their music to appreciate the show I just have one thing to say to you. You don't. Oh sure it might help to know a few of the songs like I did but when it all comes down to it Jersey Boys is a great show. If you haven't seen it I highly suggest you do. I hope you will love it as much as I did.
