Guys And Dolls Back On Broadway Where It Belongs

Who cares what the critics say. I loved this new production of Guys and Dolls. Now sure it's not the Guys and Dolls that we are used too. That's the point. You see since the original production opened in 1950 there have been three different productions in New York City including an all African-American version in 1976.Being a director myself I know the importance of revivals to the Broadway landscape. On one hand it gives a lot of theatregoers a chance to see a classic musical for the very first time. Second it gives director's a chance to take a new look at an old show and make it their own. I saw the 1992 revival and thought it was good but at times a little too cartoonish. This new production gets to the real heart and soul of the piece and shows New York in it's grittiest form. So forget what the reviews said and get yourself down to the Nederlander Theatre to see Guys and Dolls on Broadway. You won't be disappointed.
