Jill Paice, who starred in the Broadway productions of Curtains and The Woman In White, will take over all the female roles in The 39 Steps at the Helen Hayes Theater on June 2. She replaces Francesca Faridany.
Directed by Maria Aitken, the play is a comedic take on Hitchcock's 1935 classic thriller of the same name about a man who is forced by a mysterious woman's death into a cross-country race for his life. I loved this show and highly reccommend it! I was in stitches when I first saw this show. It's still a big hit in London as well.
The play is adapted by Patrick Barlow, based on an original concept by Simon Corble and Nobby Dimon and on the book by John Buchan. The play won the 2007 Laurence Olivier Award for Best New Comedy, as well as two Tony Awards, and two Drama Desk Awards.
The cast also stars Sean Mahon (Richard Hannay), Jeffrey Kuhn (Man #1), and Arnie Burton (Man #2). The creative team includes Peter McKintosh (sets and costumes), Kevin Adams (lighting), and Mic Pool (sound).
