The Mets west coast trip got off to a flying start, winning their first 3 games against the San Francisco Giants. Unfortunately the last 3 games haven’t gone as well, losing 3 straight after the Dodgers beat them last night 5-3. The road trip continues with 1 more game against the Dodgers tonite before they had to Boston for the weekend for 3 games against the Red Sox at Fenway Park. Johan Santana will face off against Josh Beckett on Friday night in what should be a great pitching matchup.
Carlos Delgado had successful surgery on his hip yesterday and will be out of the lineup for at least 2 months. For now the Mets will look to Fernando Tatis and Daniel Murphy to share 1st base duties. It remains to be seen if general manager Omar Minaya will trade for a 1st baseman in the absence of Delgado.
The Mets return home to Citi Field next week with games against division rivals Washington Nationals and Florida Marlins.
