As an office of theatregoers we often don't agree on a lot of things. However there is one thing we do agree on. The new production of Hair is a winner. Now before I saw Hair I didn't know that much about it except for a few songs and that it took place in the 1960's. Let me just get it out right now. The show blew me away. The cast is one of the finest ensembles you will ever see on Broadway and the score is one of the most moving and enjoyable you will ever hear.I'll admit I wasn't too sure if I was going to like it at first. Yes I know reviews from the Summer 2008 Shakespeare in the Park were outstanding and word of mouth was good. That doesn't mean I was going to like it. I tend not to go to shows that are that over hyped because in most case's they really don't live up to my expectations. That is why I never saw The Producers. That and because Nathan Lane annoys me.
The show which won the 2009 Tony Award for Best Revival still continues to do very good business eight shows a week at Broadway's Al Hirschfeld Theatre. If you haven't seen the show yet I highly recommend you do on your next visit. You will love it. I know I did.
