Shrek The Musical Turns One

This Sunday November 8 Shrek will celebrate it's first year on the Great White Way.Unfortunately it will also be the last milestone it will celebrate. It was announced last month that Shrek will play it's final performance on Broadway on January 3. I for one think that the show deserves a longer run. Sure the show may not be perfect but it is a lot more entertaining then a lot of shows out there right now. I'll be the first to admit that I went into the show not expecting much.

I had never seen any of the movies so I wasn't really sure what to expect accept a singing ogre and his friends. I was not only pleasantly surprised but I had a great time. It's got great music, a funny yet touching story, and a cast that entertains and warm's your heart all at the same time. What more could you ask for in a Broadway musical? It's a shame that a show as good as Shrek couldn't find an audience. I guess Disney won the battle of the cartoon musicals after all. Can anyone take down the Mouse? The future looks bleak.
