Desire Under The Elms with Brian Dennehy Comes to Broadway

I love Brian Dennehy's theater, television and film work. He is one of the most recognizable actors having played in many television movies, large-screen films (Semi-Tough and First Blood) and for his standout performances on Broadway in Long Day's Journey Into Night, Death of a Salesman, and Inherit The Wind. Mr. Dennehy will be starring in Eugene O'Neill's classic drama Desire Under The Elms at the St. James Theater on Broadway beginning with preview performances on April 14, 2009.

Desire Under The Elms was written in 1924. Inspired by a Greek tragedy, Desire Under The Elms tells the story of widower Ephraim Cabot who returns to his family's farm with his young wife Abbie, who then falls in love with Ephraim's son Eben. The consequences that transpire are tragic indeed. In addition to Mr. Dennehy, Desire Under The Elms stars Carla Gugino as his wife and Pablo Schreiber as his son Eben. Ms. Gugino has appeared in the film Son In Law as well as the Spy Kids trilogy, last appearing on Broadway in After The Fall in 2004. Mr. Schreiber is best known for his role as Nick Sobotka on HBO's series The Wire and on Broadway for his Tony-nominated role in Awake and Sing!
