South Pacific at Lincoln Center-One of New York's Best Shows

In 2008 South Pacific won 7 Tony Awards for Broadway's Best Revival. Our little ticket agency Applause Theater Service, located in New York City, sold a ton of tickets for this show.

Although it is still popular, many theater-goers have seen it. And you know the old saying, "whatever goes up, eventually comes down". All I mean by this is that South Pacific is a tremendously exciting Broadway Show to see, but for a limited time only, you can obtain seats for discount prices as the first year of bigger than usual demand for new shows is over.

South Pacific is one of New York's landmark shows and this version is only the first revival of an over 50 year old show. Maybe this is why it is so special. The original South Pacific won a Pulitzer Prize, played for over five years and won nine Tony Awards. Songs like "Some Enchanted Evening", "Younger Than Springtime" and "Nothing Like A Dame" are some of the classic Rodgers and Hammerstein favorites.

Currently Laura Osnes stars as Ensign Nellie Forbush, taking over the role played by Kelli O'Hara. Ms. O'Hara is having a baby soon and plans on returning to South Pacific in October of 2009. The supporting cast for South Pacific is extremely talented and the creative team features direction by Bartlett Sher, scenic design by Michael Yeargan, costume design by Catherine Zuber, lighting design by Donald Holder and sound design by Scott Lehrer. The talent both on stage and creatively are some of the finest the theater industry has ever seen.

Although South Pacific was a complete sold out show in 2008, right now there are a few weekday performances that Applause Theater Service can get you at a discount off the regular prices. The discount is valid for performances on Tuesday evenings, Wednesday matinee and evenings and some Thursdays, subject to availability. The special prices are valid for many performances now through May 21, 2009. If you need to go on the weekend, not to worry friends. South Pacific is one of my most favorite shows. It is just the type of "old fashioned" production that takes me back to the days when I was first introduced to the "magic" of live Broadway entertainment.
