Waiting For Godot Opens April 30

The new Broadway revival of Samuel Beckett's Waiting for Godot starring Tony Award winners Bill Irwin, Nathan Lane,John Glover, and Emmy nominee John Goodman opens tonight at Studio 54. The show which is being produced by the Roundabout Theater Company began previews on April 3 and is scheduled to run thru July 5. Waiting for Godot, according to Roundabout, "revolves around two seemingly homeless men waiting for someone — or something — named Godot. Vladimir (Bill Irwin) and Estragon (Nathan Lane) wait near a tree on a barren stretch of road, inhabiting a drama spun from their own consciousness. The result is a comical wordplay of poetry, dreamscapes and nonsense, which has been interpreted as a somber summation of mankind's inexhaustible search for meaning." I myself have not seen the show but word of mouth so far has been good. I expect the production as well as some of it's stars to receive some Tony nominations when they are announced next week. Until next time theatre lovers.
