Phantom of The Opera-Broadway's Longest Running Show
What? You still haven't seen Phantom yet? I guess I shouldn't be too hard on you. I mean it's only been running for 22 years after all. All kidding aside Phantom of the Opera is a New York institution and probably will be for many years to come. For those of you who don't know the story then I will give you a little synopsis of the show. "Based on the novel by Gaston Leroux. It tells the story of the hideously deformed Phantom who lurks beneath the stage of the Paris Opera, exercising a reign of terror over its occupants. The phantom falls in love with the young Soprano devoting himself to creating a new star for the Opera by nurturing her extraordinary talents and employing all the skills at his disposal."Who would have thought this would make a good musical? Oh that's right. Seven-time Tony Award winner Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber. By the way it was recently announced that a sequel is in the works. The new musical,Love Never Dies,is expected to open in 2010 at a theatre to be announced at a later date. Will lighting strike twice. We will find out soon enough. Until next time theatre fans.
