Wow! I can't believe it's been almost twelve years since The Lion King first opened on The Great White Way. The show which won the Tony Award for Best Musical in 1998 is still packing them in eight times a week at the Minskoff Theatre. After all these years I keep expecting the show to slow down but it keeps on going and going with no end in sight. Since it opened four other Disney shows have opened though none as successful as The Lion King. While Mary Poppins is going strong they recently announced that The Little Mermaid will close on August 30. Pretty soon The Lion King will be the only show left under the Disney umbrella. Regardless of the future The Lion King is here to stay. Why not? It's the perfect show for the whole family. How many shows can say that? Get your tickets to see The Lion King on Broadway. It is an experience that you will remember for the rest of your life.JWB
