Nearly three years into it's run and Mary Poppins is still a crowd favorite with audiences young and old alike. The show which is based on the classic 1964 movie and the books by P.L. Travers first opened in London in 2004 before opening on Broadway at the New Amsterdam Theatre in November 2006. The movie was a favorite of mine as a child and the show while different in some aspects is just as enchanting. The musical features all the classic songs from the movie along with a few new songs written especially for the stage version. With the recent announcement that The Little Mermaid is scheduled to close at the end of August I expect Mary Poppins sales to increase.
