Dee Roscioli Soars To Broadway as the "Wicked" Witch of the West!

Well it looks like I have to make a return visit to see one of my all time favorite shows! Dee Roscioli assumes the role of Elphaba in the hit musical WICKED this week and I always like to see the different cast changes. I'm hearing great things about this gal!

Ms. Roscioli is making her Broadway debut after playing the role of Elphaba for the final two years of the record-breaking Chicago production of WICKED. Dee joins a cast which includes Alli Mauzey as Glinda, Tony Award-winner Rondi Reed(August Osage) as Madame Morrible, P.J. Benjamin as The Wizard, Kevin Kern as Fiyero, Alex Brightman as Boq, Cristy Candler as Nessarose, and Timothy Britten Parker as Dr. Dillamond.

In addition to her three years with the Chicago company of WICKED, Dee Roscioli has appeared as Grizabella in the national tour of Cats and in the NYSF Workshops of Dangerous Beauty and Behind the Limelight. She has sung for the governors of Arkansas and Kentucky and had the privilege of singing the national anthem for the Chicago Bears and White Sox.

Winner of 20 major awards including the Grammy Award and three Tony Awards, WICKED is the untold story of the witches of Oz. Long before Dorothy drops in, two other girls meet in the land of Oz. One, born with emerald-green skin, is smart, fiery and misunderstood. The other is beautiful, ambitious and very popular. WICKED tells the story of their remarkable odyssey, how these two unlikely friends grow to become the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good Witch.

Declared "A Cultural Phenomenon" by Variety, WICKED currently has productions in New York, San Francisco, London, Tokyo, Stuttgart, Melbourne and on two North American tours. Based on the novel by Gregory Maguire, WICKED has music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz, and a book by Winnie Holzman. The production is directed by Joe Mantello(9 to 5 the Musical) with musical staging by Wayne Cilento.
