The Mets return home to Citi Field this week for a big 3 game series against the World Champion Phillies. The Mets struggled on their recent 6 game road trip , losing 4 of the 6 games, but ended on a high note on Sunday with a 7-0 win over the Nationals. They trail the Phillies by 3 games for 1st place in the division, so it’s a chance for the Mets to gain some ground in the standings, and to tie them for 1st with a sweep. Johan Santana will get the ball on Tuesday to start the series as he looks to continue his great start. With all the injuries the Mets have suffered so far it makes it that much more important for Santana to continue to dominate.
It doesn’t get any easier for the Mets this weekend as they travel to the New Yankee Stadium for the annual subway series against the Yankees.
