GOD OF CARNAGE Celebrates 100th Performance Tonight, June 17th

One of the funniest and most enjoyable plays currently on Broadway, Tony Award winner "GOD OF CARNAGE" will mark its 100th performance on Broadway at the Jacobs Theatre tonight, Wednesday, June 17. I cannot recommend this show highly enough! I laughed till I cried at some points during the show. Marcia Gay Harden is a revelation and the rest of the cast are all amazing! I just walked past the theatre this afternoon and the line was down the block for advanced sales! No need to do that with Applause! Tickets are just a phone call away!

Since opening, GOD OF CARNAGE has become New York's hottest play outselling most musicals on Broadway which is certainly a rare feat. In recent weeks celebrities such as Julia Roberts, Leonardo DiCaprio, Nicole Kidman, Keith Urban, Reese Witherspoon, Jake Gyllenhaal, Whoopi Goldberg, Megan Mullally, Mary Tyler Moore, Rosie Perez, Melissa Gilbert, Sigourney Weaver, Matt Stone, Trey Parker, Stephen Colbert, T.R. Knight, Ryan Reynolds, Cynthia Nixon, Anne Hathaway, Bob Balaban, James Lipton, Q-Tip, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Johnny Galecki, Rachel Dratch, Carla Gugino, Gloria Steinem, Tiffani Thiessen, Patti LuPone, Marc Anthony, Andie MacDowell, Jerry Herman, Aida Turturro, Jeff Goldblum, and Maura Tierney have all been spotted in the Jacobs Theatre audience.

Starring Jeff Daniels, Hope Davis, James Gandolfini and Marcia Gay Harden, Yasmina Reza's GOD OF CARNAGE is playing at the Bernard Jacobs Theatre (242 West 45 Street). The comedy opened Sunday, March 22 to rave reviews and was recently awarded three Tony Awards, including Best Play, Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Play (Marcia Gay Harden), and Best Direction of a Play (Matthew Warchus). The play was also recently honored with the Olivier Award in London for Best New Comedy.

GOD OF CARNAGE is a comedy of manners without the manners. The play deals with the aftermath of a playground altercation between two boys and what happens when their parents meet to talk about it.

The entire production will take a 6 week summer hiatus beginning July 27 to allow the cast to fulfill previously scheduled family commitments. The production will resume performances on Tuesday, September 8 and continue through Sunday, November 15th which are on sale now with Applause. It will probably continue beyond that but with a different all-star cast. But this cast is not to be missed for sure. The performance schedule is Tuesday at 7:00pm, Wednesday through Saturday at 8:00pm, Wednesday and Saturday at 2:00pm and Sunday at 3:00pm.
